The ‘Dented’ Pearl
Hi Pearl,
It can be tough trying to put up with the pressure in life. You might be going through a lot of it right now. Pressure from relationships, school, family, church, friends. I feel the world is quite tensed at the moment. There is so much expected from us. It can be tough trying to live up to these expectations, especially as a Christian girl. Everyone is trying to define your faith for you and tell you what it should be like. It can be challenging trying to find the right balance between all of these. I know this feeling. I have been there.
Pearl, I know you aren’t comfortable with me calling you that name because you feel it doesn’t best describe you. You might feel more comfortable with the word dented because a lot of stripes from life have dented your image. You have been bruised from consequences of past mistakes, broken trust and disappointments from loved ones. You feel lonely. I again know this feeling. I have been there.
I want you to realise that after the word ‘dented’, is also the word ‘pearl’. Sometimes we focus so much on the dent that we forget all together who we truly are. The fact that we are dented doesn’t nullify the totality of who we are. We are Pearls. You are a pearl whether dented or not.
So this is a short note to let you know that those stripes are to act as reminders of how far you have come. Let them act as fuels that propels you into a better version of you. They should remind you of the warrior that you are. You are a fighter and a survivor. You have come a long way and you are a lot stronger than you think you are. You are beautiful and your scar is what makes you unique.
Love,
Your fellow dented pearl xx
